PSPD surprise seniors with Meals on Wheels deliveries

Palm Springs police and county probation officers teamed up with Meals on Wheels to deliver food to seniors who can’t leave their homes.

The officers spent their lunch hours going door to door working with Meals on Wheels, a grant funded organization that delivers meals to homebound seniors

Many of the seniors given meals were surprised to see the police officers show up at their front doors.

“At first they were a little surprised, they didn’t know why we were there and then when we told them we were just coming to help Meals on Wheels to help deliver meals they thought it was you know a great thing and they thanked us for coming by,” said PSPD Officer Joe Cook.

Meals on Wheels delivers 500 meals every Monday through Friday to homebound seniors across the Coachella Valley.
