Planned power outage during scorching heat wave has SCE customers concerned

Southern California Edison has scheduled planned power outages in some desert cities on Monday, just as temperatures are expected to be climbing into the 110+ degree range. Power is scheduled to be out in certain parts of the city for several hours.

And now SCE customers are raising concerns and questioning the timing of the planned power outage, given the scorching heat wave entering the Coachella Valley this week.

The Joclyn Center and Palm Desert Community Center will be open as cool centers for those needing to find some air conditioning.

According to Southern California Edison’s website, maintenance outages are a necessity that requires electrical services be temporarily shut off to make planned infrastructure improvements, repairs and upgrades.
