25-year-old man dies after being hit by tow truck in Coachella

A 25-year-old man died early Wednesday morning after he was hit by a tow truck while walking southbound on the west side of Dillon Road, according to the California Highway Patrol. It happened at about 12:10 a.m. near Highway 86; not far from Spotlight 29 Casino.

Authorities haven’t released the man’s name yet.

The tow truck driver is a 31-year-old man from Indio. He was not arrested according to CHP.

The road between Highway 86 and Highway 111 was closed for a few hours as officers conducted their investigation at the scene. That stretch of Dillon Road was re-opened to traffic at 4:45 a.m.
