Bicyclist dies after colliding with vehicle in La Quinta

The La Quinta Police Department was called to a bicycle collision Monday morning that turned out to be deadly.

Just before 8 a.m., a bicyclist was traveling northbound on Avenida Bermudas and collided with a vehicle parked along the east curb of the road, north of Call Chillon, according to Sergeant Chris Frederick. The bicyclist was taken to JFK Memorial Hospital where he died from his injuries.

The identity of the bicylist is being withheld by authorities until they notify his family.

Avenida Bermudas was closed to traffic in the area Monday morning as officers investigated the collision and cleared the scene.
