Windmill fire causes over $1 million in damage

Fire crews are investigating what sparked a windmill fire that caused over a million dollars in damage.

The smoke could be seen from Dillon Road just west of Highway 62. Crews located the windmill that was on fire at the SCE Sunwind substation.

The first arriving engine company reported one windmill turbine involved with several spots of vegetation due to falling burning debris. The fire was contained at 5:47 p.m

Less than 5 acres of brush burned due to falling debris from the windmill.

The fire caused $1,500,000 in damage
