Safely dispose of “Safe and Sane” fireworks after the holiday

With the Fourth of July holiday now over, firefighters are asking people to safely stored or dispose of their “Safe and Sane” fireworks. The end of the holiday also means it is now illegal to shoot any fireworks into the air.

In past years, firefighters said they have received fireworks-related calls in past years with some of them involving fires, causing thousands of dollars in damages.

Firefighters suggest if you have any unopened fireworks leftover and want to store them, be sure to keep them out of reach from children, away from flammable materials and throw them away if they’ve been wet or damaged.

If you’d like to safely get rid of your “Safe and Sane” fireworks you can drop off them off at local fire stations.

Firefighters prefer you play it safe, dispose of fireworks and buy new ones next year.
