Congressman Ruiz hosts open forum on healthcare
Congressman Raul Ruiz along with several other local health care leaders hosted an open forum regarding the latest federal health care proposal in Indio Monday evening.
The forum, “Discussion with the Doctor”, started at 6 p.m. at the Indio 7th Day Adventist Church on Clinton Street. It focused on the impacts the policies in the latest federal health care proposal will have on patients in the 36th Congressional District and across the nation.

News Channel 3 / CBS Local 2 Reporter Alex Cheney was at the forum and Congressman Ruiz.
Ruiz expressed his opposition to the Senate health care bill aimed at overhauling the Affordable Care Act. This comes amid discussion and debate among Senate Republicans.
The Democrat, who’s played a big role in the opposition, says the affordable care act should be amended not ended.
“I think residents here care the most about the age tax because we have a very high elderly population. There are many tens of thousands of people age 50 to 64 who will now be charged 5 times more,” Congressman Ruiz said.
