Nightly I-10 closures continue this week due to destruction of old Jefferson St. Bridge
The 57-year-old Jefferson Street bridge over Interstate 10 won’t live to see 58. It’s being torn down.
Lane closures are taking place on I-10 at Jefferson Street from July 10 to July 14.

Detour for Full Closure of EB I-10:
Exit at Washington St. and turn left Turn right at Varner Rd. Turn right at Monroe St. Turn left at Monroe St. on-ramp.
Detour for full closure of WB I-10.
Exit at Monroe St. and turn right. Turn left at Varner Rd./Ave 42. Continue on Varner Rd. to Washington St. on-ramp. Note: Traffic will be flagged through the EB and WB I-10 off-ramp and other intersections along the detour route.
The $71 million Jefferson Street Interchange Project got underway in the spring of 2015. It has entailed expanding the current two-lane overpass connecting Varner Road and Indio Boulevard to eight lanes, erecting loop ramps for easy east-west access to I-10 and adding bicycle lanes and sidewalks.
The project is slated for completion in mid-August.
