Palm Springs Power to open playoffs

The Palm Springs Power will begin their best-of-three Southern California Collegiate Baseball League semifinal series tonight against the Arroyo Seco Sentinels at Palm Springs Stadium.

The Power had a league-best 31-3 record while the Sentinels were fourth in the six-team league at 14-20.

Tickets start at $8 and can be purchased at the game or online at http://www.palmspringspowerbaseball.com/tickets/.

Beer will be available at $1 per cup.

Game 2 will be played Wednesday and Game 3, if necessary, Thursday, all beginning at 7 p.m. at Palm Springs Stadium.

The winner will advance to face the winner of the semifinal series between the defending champion San Diego Force and third-place So Cal Bombers.

The power is seeking its seventh championship since 2007.
