Hi Desert mom arrested after child spills food
A mother from Twentynine Palms was arrested Thursday after San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputies say she choked her 7-year old son and threatened to kill him after he accidentally spilled food.
Brittany Phillips, 27, is being held on a “no bail” probation hold at the Morongo Basin Jail.
A witness alerted law enforcement to child cruelty happening on the 4500 block of Adobe Road in Twentynine Palms around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday. When officers arrived they found the child’s mother was intoxicated outside of their home.
According to police, Phillips got angry when her son spilled food, and “began yelling at the victim, choked him, hit him in the face, threw him against a wall and threatened to kill him.”
The victim sustained minor injuries and was placed into the care of Child and Family Services.
Phillips was arrested on suspicion of child cruelty.
