High School Football Preview: Palm Springs Indians

Last year the Palm Springs Indian football team were a touchdown away against La Quinta from winning the DVL Title. Loaded with weapons on the offense, but a young sophomore quarterback in Jeremy Dotson. Now a year more of experience, but key players to replace. It’ll likely come down to the big men up front.

“Our offensive line this year is bigger than the 1986 Boise State line all the way across the board. ” said Head Coach Dan Murphy who played for the Boise State Broncos.

So behind the big guys is the quarterback, the junior. He’s got his team’s respect and his coaches respect.

“Last year was a different story coming from freshman, being the guy to this year over the summer taking a strong leadership role. Understanding the system a lot better, gaining confidence and he has looked really good so far in camp.” Coach Murphy said.

“Much more better having the one year, got me ready. I got a taste what varsity football is like and I got a lot more confident.” said starting junior quarterback Jeremy Dotson.

There is definitely one player you should look out for as he might be a little bit small. Don’t overlook Nick Reyes-foster.

“Cause of my size they underestimate me so I just bring it. I love to play the game, its my passion while I play.” Nick Reyes-foster said.

“He is one of the top players in the valley and there are a lot of great players in the valley. He is fearless, can play 4 or 5 different positions and not afraid to go up against anybody. He is a true competitor.” Murphy described Reyes-foster.

Very young football team, many sophomores or juniors that are going to start. They need to grow up quick.

“There is always someone waiting in the wings and we got those guys but it’s going to take them a few weeks to get used to the speed of the game.” Murphy finished.>
