Man hospitalized after being shot inside Cathedral City bar
Police are investigating a late-night shooting Wednesday night in Cathedral City that left one man hospitalized with gunshot wounds. The shooting happened inside The Block Bar & Grill at approximately 11 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Date Palm Drive and Ramon Road.
The injured man was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center where there was no word on his condition early Thursday morning.
Cathedral City police said officers arrived at the scene and found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Police are still looking for the shooting suspect, described as Hispanic, in his 20’s, with a medium build and wearing a dark-colored jersey-type shirt.
According to the victim’s wife, there was an altercation between her husband and four other men. One of those men at pulled out a gun, and shot him twice, once in the hand and once in the chest.
Witnesses said the suspect fled the scene after the shooting.
No one has been arrested at this time as police continue to investigate.
This is the second shooting this year at the Block, last March two men were shot in the parking lot of the bar. Attempted murder charges were filed against two men from Desert Hot Springs. The March shooting also stemmed from an altercation according to police. Officers do not believe the two shootings are related.
