High School Football Preview: Shadow Hills Knights
After a 6-1 start to the 2016 season, the Knights dropped their final 3 games. This season, they’re focused on finishing so that doesn’t happen again.
“Don’t sleep on us, we’re coming this year. We’re coming.”
Rolling towards the playoffs but then a thumping from DVL Champion La Quinta, a heartbreaking loss to Palm Springs, and their playoff hopes vanished by a Xavier Prep upset in the final week of the year so playing all four quarters is goal number one.
“A lot of games we lost in the fourth quarter so hopefully we fix that, and just finish this year. Concentrate on finishing, everything we have done so far.”
“I am going to play the best players, whether he is freshman or he is a senior. Best player is going to be on the field.”
There is no shortage on talent coming back.
“Our DB’s, our receivers, our running backs, all those guys are coming back so it is just put together a line and obviously we have a new quarterback also so getting some continuity with those groups.”
Though these are pretty big quarterback shoes to fill, graduating the DVL’s 1st team quarterback in Seth Morales who threw for over 1,600 yards and ran for another 500 on the ground. All signs point to the young gun.
“Right now it is a sophomore Hunter Brooks, if we had to play tomorrow he’ll be our guy.”
“He hasn’t played on varsity this is going to be his first year but he is picking up and learning fast. I think he will be good by league.”
One game at a time, hopefully adding more games to the schedule by season’s end.
“Make playoffs that is for sure.”
“Right now we are looking at the first game, West Valley is the one we have on the schedule right now.”
