Desert Hot Springs to the Buffalo Bills; The Jordan Mudge Story
He’s a 28-year-old turning heads at an NFL Training Camp. A quarter life older than his fellow Buffalo Bill rookie teammates. 10-years ago Jordan Mudge was taking the field for the Desert Hot Springs Golden Eagles, and now 2,500 miles away in up-state New York with an NFL roster spot in sight.
“Pretty surreal, out of no where. It took me awhile to really sink in that the Bills were calling me but I got here and started to work.” Jordan Mudge said. In 2006 & 2007 Jordan Mudge was suiting up for Friday nights under the valley lights and whether it was his teammates at Desert Hot Springs, or the Buffalo Bills, they knew the big guy by “Mudge”. “Junior college one time my parents came looking for me and they kept saying do you know where Jordan is? They are like we don’t have a Jordan on the field. Mudge.. and they go ohhh Mudge is over here!” Mudge joked. A crazy football journey stretching a decade with even a stop at College of the Desert along the way. Chasing dreams and making impressions on teams. “He works so hard, his path is an underdog path so it’s easy to root for a guy like that.” Eric Wood, starting offensive linemen for the Bills said. “He impresses me everyday, really does. A hard worker, he finishes everything.” Ryan Groy, another member of the Bills OLine added. Enjoying it all as Mudge as he can. “Its great here, I am like a little kid. Snapping everyone, sending pictures, look at this, check out this food, look at the meals they are making us. It’s incredible.”
