Palm Desert man arrested for DUI after hit-and-run
A DUI suspect was arrested on Saturday afternoon, after police say he hit a pedestrian with his truck and then fled the scene.
Shortly after 3:30 p.m. La Quinta Police Department responded to a traffic collision on Highway 111 west of Adams Street. A 2002 Toyota pick-up truck collided with a 55 year-old male pedestrian and fled the scene. The pedestrian sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result of the collision and was taken to the hospital.
The driver of the Toyota pick-up truck, 28-year-old Eduardo Antonio Airada Bernal, of Palm Desert, was later located and arrested for suspicion of felony driving under the influence of drugs causing injury, and felony hit and run. He was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Deputies did not disclose what drug or drugs Bernal suspected of using. He is expected to make his initial court appearance on Wednesday.
