Three suspects arrested after Desert Hot Springs pursuit
Three people were in jail after a police pursuit in Desert Hot Springs, that ended in the area of Mission Springs Park.
According to Riverside County Sheriff’s Dept. just before 3 p.m., a deputy observed a stolen vehicle near Palm and Dillon Road. The vehicle failed to yield and led police on a vehicle pursuit.
During that pursuit, two suspects, later identified as Christian Salas and Juan Dorado, fled on foot from the vehicle.
The two were apprehended by Deputies after a short pursuit. The pursuit ended near Camino Campanero and Bubbling Wells near Mission Springs Park. According to Desert Hot Springs police, four people were arrested.
The driver, identified as Angelica Cortina of Desert Hot Springs, was arrested and the vehicle was found to have been stolen from Nevada.
An additional vehicle occupant was released with no criminal charges
“We did have a short pursuit,” says DHS Police Chief Dale Mondary. “It ended safely and we have four people in custody.”
Palm Springs Unified School District Spokeswoman Joan Boiko confirmed that Bubbling Wells Elementary School was placed on a brief lockdown, but it has since ended.
Cortina was booked for evading arrest, vehicle theft, possession of stolen property and convicted felon possession of ammunition.
Salas and Dorado were booked for several additional federal charges.
