James Green III wins high school football play of the week

The senior standout for Cathedral City won Week 1 play of the week honors for his leaping touchdown catch against Coachella Valley on Friday night.

“I feel like I was able to show off my wide reciver abilities and to win play of the week it means a lot,” Green III said.

“He’s got like a 38 or 39 inch vertical and is just a freak athlete,” said Lions head coach Ricahrd Lee.

“If you can get up with him then more power to you, but he’s going to win that battle 9 out of 10 times and that’s something we know he can do, so we take advantage of that and work that into our offense.”

Cathedral City ended up losing the game to CV in what was a back-and-forth thriller, 33-27. But no blame can be placed on JG3 who made many plays, including two touchdown receptions.
