Police arrest man suspected of firing two handguns in Indio neighborhood
Police arrested a man suspected of firing off two handguns in a Indio neighborhood on Tuesday morning.
Indio Police received multiple reports around 8:00 a.m., of that man firing the handguns in the area of Garden Ave. and Daisy St.
Officers arrived quickly to the scene and were able to set-up a perimeter to contain him.
After an extensive search of the area the officers located weapons in an abandon car.
Officers recovered one illegally modified .223 caliber short rifle, two .40 caliber unregistered handguns, and found in the backyard of another home was a .22 caliber rifle.
The suspected gunman, 22-year-old Jason Diaz was found after a yard to yard search of the surrounding area, hiding in an abandon car.
No one was injured in this incident, police did find a nearby home with fresh bullet strikes.
Diaz was booked into the Riverside County jail in Indio on suspicion of negligent discharge of a firearm and carrying a loaded firearm while not being the registered owner.
He was released on $20,000 bail, according to jail records, and is due in court in October.
