Wife of famed actor, Gene Autry, donates $100K to Hurricane Harvey victims

Jackie Autry, the wife of famed singing cowboy Gene Autry, has made a sizeable donation to help with the Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.

Autry says it will be an initial donation of $100,000 to the American Red Cross. $50,000 will come from the Autry foundation and the other half will come out of her own pocket.

She was a previous president of the Red Cross in Palm Springs and says she knows the impact the organization has for disaster relief.

Autry says she hopes her contribution will motivate others to do the same. She says her team at the foundation will make further assessments on other donations to the Red Cross.

Autry has contributed to the relief of other major disasters such as Superstorm Sandy and Hurricane Katrina.
