Six injured in Desert Hot Springs collision
Several people, including three children, were injured after a crash in Desert Hot Springs Thursday night.
Two vehicles, a white van, and a pickup truck were involved in a collision at the intersection of Ironwood Dr and La Mesa Dr. at around 8:20 pm. It also damaged a Toyota minivan that was parked in a driveway at a home on the corner. The car’s owner, Roberto Valenzuela, said his insurance wouldn’t fully cover his loss.

The Desert Hot Springs Police Department issued a release Friday morning saying six people were injured in the collision, some with major injuries.
Police also confirmed the arrest of Brandon Byars, 23, for driving under the influence. He driving the white van involved in the crash. Witnesses said Byars attempted to flee the scene before neighbors held him down until police arrived.
Police says one man, who was a passenger, was listed as in critical condition. A woman also suffered moderate injuries. The juveniles and a man who was driving them suffered minor injuries and were released.
Byars was booked into Riverside County Jail on $50,000 bail.
He’s been charged with DUI alcohol with bodily injury, and 4 enhanced counts of causing great bodily injury.
