Driver dies after car hits Tamarisk tree near Desert Hot Springs

At least one person is dead after a crash near Desert Hot Springs Saturday night.

California Highway Patrol says the crash happened on the westbound side of the I-10, west of Date Palm Dr. just before 10 p.m. Saturday.

According to CHP, a vehicle went off the road and hit a tamarisk tree.

The cause of the crash and the identity of the victim(s) is not known at this time.
