Pedestrian struck and killed in Twentynine Palms

On Sunday evening, authorities responded to the scene of a deadly traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in Twentynine Palms.

It happened shortly before 8 p.m. on Baseline Road, west of Utah Trail. Deputies determined a white male adult was walking along Baseline Road, in the westbound lane.

A driver heading on the westbound lane of Baseline Road struck the man, causing major injuries. Medical personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded, and attempted life-saving measures.

However, the man succumbed to his injuries.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation. The name of the pedestrian is withheld, pending notification of the next of kin.
