Yucca Valley man arrested for attempted murder of deputy
Deputies in the high desert arrested a man suspected of attempting to run over a deputy with his vehicle during pursuit a last week, in which he was able to escape.
On Oct. 18, deputies from the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station conducted a traffic stop on a Ford truck in the area of Hwy. 62 and Hwy. 247 for a vehicle code violation.
The driver failed to yield, triggering a pursuit on paved roadways and into the desert.
Several minutes into the pursuit, the driver while traveling west on Skyline Ranch Road, attempted to run over a deputy, and a deputy-involved shooting occurred.
The driver of the vehicle continued approximately 100 yards where the road became impassable.
The driver exited his vehicle and fled on foot into the desert.
Deputies, a sheriff’s helicopter, and a K-9 unit searched the area and were unable to locate the suspect.
Investigators eventually identified the suspect involved in the attempt murder, and subsequent deputy involved shooting, as Jeremy Sazanowicz.
Investigators obtained an arrest warrant and on Thursday and arrested Sazanowicz in the 7600 block of Cibola Trail. in Yucca Valley.
Sazanowicz was booked at the Morongo Basin jail for attempt murder and bail is set at $1,000,000.
He is scheduled for arraignment on Oct. 30 in Morongo Basin Superior Court.
