Local veteran laid to rest after losing battle with cancer

A local veteran who died from pancreatic cancer waS laid to rest Sunday afternoon.

Jennifer Kepner served in Iraq in the Air Force where burn pits were used to dispose of all waste on base including Styrofoam and other carcinogens. Kepener once said her daignosis of pancreatic cancer was a result of the burn pits.

Her funeral services will be held at Forest Lawn in Cathedral City at 11:00 – 1:00 p.m. Congressman Dr. Raul Ruiz delivered a speech on the house floor Wednesday calling for action on behalf of Kepner and other veterans who blame open air burn pits for their illnesses.

Jennifer Kepner is survived by her husband, Ben, and two children.
