Annual golf cart parade takes over El Paseo

With a theme of desert safari, the 53rd annual Palm Desert Golf Cart Parade on Sunday marked the longest running in the Coachella Valley and the unofficial kickoff to the season.

The festivities started at 7:30 a.m. with a pancake breakfast served at the corner of San Luis Rey and El Paseo. The parade opened at 9 a.m. and included more than 60 participants.

A kid zone was available to keep children busy with interactive games, crafts, face painting, a bounce house and more. The Grand Marshal for 2017 was actor Gavin MacLeod, best known for his role as Captain Stubing on the Love Boat.

KESQ News Channel 3, CBS Local 2 and KUNA News all took part in today’s festivities.
