Man arrested after DUI crash in Desert Hot Springs

Police arrested a 24-year-old man accused of driving under the influence in a crash over the weekend in Desert Hot Springs.

California Highway Patrol says the crash happened at 6:57 p.m. on Saturday near the intersection of Camino Aventura and Avenida Manzana.

According to California Highway Patrol Officer Mike Radford, the suspect Carlos Avila from Desert Hot Springs was driving a 2006 Scion northbound on Avenida Manzana.

That is when he struck a parked Honda HRV, causing major damage to both vehicles.

Avila had two passengers with him, both of which suffered minor injuries and were transported to the hospital.

Avila was arrested for felony DUI and booked into the jail in Indio.
