Vehicle crashes into home after short pursuit in Cathedral City

A suspect in a police pursuit was in custody Friday morning accused of leading police on a chase Thursday night in Cathedral City. The vehicle ended up running into a home.

Cathedral City Police say officers saw a driver fail to stop at several intersections and driving at a high rate of speed at approximately 9:40 p.m. They then initiated a pursuit at around the 30400 block of San Antonio.

They called off the chase a short time later in the interest of public safety near Gene Autry on Vista Chino.

Residents in the area of Vista Chino and San Felipe later reported a vehicle crashing into a home. It was determined to be the same vehicle from earlier due to matching descriptions. The driver ran away from the scene.

Officers eventually located the David Aguilar, 43, of Cathedral City. He was arrested and booked on reckless driving charges and a parole violation.
