Group aims to spread happiness through positive messages

A group of students staged in front of Raymond Cree Middle School in Palm Springs Monday morning to spread messages of positivity.

It’s part of the Happiness Sprinkling Project, an effort to raise the spirits of people in a community.

They wore bright yellow shirts and held signs to encouraging people with positive messages such as, such as “You are Loved” and “Breathe…”. They were prominently displayed in front of the school for drivers to see during the morning rush hour. Many of them honked in appreciation.

“Some people don’t get that everyday, like from people that love them or like their family,” Jaylin Lucero, an eight grader at the middle school, said.

The signs have been shipped from one location to the next forming a global “happiness chain letter,” adopting a simple Pay It Forward concept.

The Happiness Sprinkling campaign, which was started in 2012, has been held all across the country and around the world. The signs have gone to places as far away as the Cayman Islands and Australia.
