Plans for the proposed Virgin Hotel approved

The City of Palm Springs has voted in favor of development plans for the proposed Virgin Hotel to be constructed downtown.

After contentious debate between councilmembers the proposal narrowly passed with a 3-2 vote. Councilman Kors and Roberts both opposed moving forward with the extension written as is.

The Virgin Hotel will be located at the northeast corner of Belardo Road and Museum Way.

Construction has been slow to start due to lawsuits over the height of the proposed 69-foot hotel.

Those lawsuits have since been dropped.

The Virgin Hotel is now expected to be built by 2020.
