Thank you for helping us “Fill the Bus”

SunLine Transit Agency hosted its 11th Annual Holiday Food Drive on Thursday at three locations in the Coachella Valley.

Many members of the community dropped off non-perishable food items, frozen meats, and other assorted trimmings for holiday meals at busses parked at the Walmart Supercenter in Palm Desert, the Stater Bros in La Quinta and the Ralphs in Palm Springs.

Other accepted items included new packaged toiletries, personal hygiene products, diapers and other household products.

According to SunLine Transit, a total of 15.3 tons of food collected from all three locations. More than last year which was about 15 tons.

564 turkeys were collected which again was more than last year’s food drive.

Palm Springs collected the most food, while Palm Desert had the most turkeys donated.

This year’s drive benefited The Center in Palm Springs and Narrow Door in Indio.
