Mission Outreach Project serves Thanksgiving dinner to community

Those in need received a warm Thanksgiving dinner in Desert Hot Springs.

Mission Outreach Project, God’s Kitchen, a nonprofit organization that feeds the homeless and low-income families in Desert Hot Springs, held the community dinner at the Henry V. Lozano Community Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

On Tuesday, at the Desert Hot Springs city council meeting, members from the organization spoke out about a recent ordinance that was passed.

The ordinance, approved last month, limits the amount of times an organization can use a community center to once a week. For 25 years, God’s Kitchen has cooked hot meals twice a week at the Henry V. Lozano Community Center.

The food served on Wednesday was provided from the Agua Caliente Band of Mission Indian turkey giveaway.
