Thousand Palms fire contained
Firefighters made quick work of a fire near the eastbound I-10 in Thousand Palms on Thursday.
It was reported at around 12:15 p.m. at Ramon Road and Varner Road.
According to the scene, a homeless encampment caught on fire.
Crews arrived at 12:20 p.m. and put out the flames within minutes.
No word yet on what caused the fire.
