Beauty salon robbed after devastating fire

An Indio beauty salon that was recently damaged by a fire, is now the victim of a theft.

Monday morning, several businesses on a strip mall at the 82000 block of Highway 111 in Indio were damaged by a fire. “Ali-Zaih’s Mane Cuts” was one of the businesses damaged by the fire. The salon was forced to close its doors due to the damage.

Wednesday morning, the owner of the salon, Dulce Emontiel, arrived at her business to pick up some items to work somewhere else while the building was being repaired. When she arrived, she discovered that several items had been stolen, including hair clippers and expensive hair care products.

“It was about $5,000 worth of product. If not more,” Emontiel said. “So, even if we wanted to move, it’s going to be difficult, you know because we have no product.”

The thieves also stole $500 from a cash register.

Police are investing the theft and the cause of the fire.
