Creative program engaging students on emergency preparedness

Some local students at Hoover Elementary School in Indio got an active crash course in emergency preparedness Friday morning. They sat through a unique assembly where they were introduced to an animated puppy named Rocket.

The program is being put on by members of The Hero In You Foundation, where they used new technology to engage students. Rocket was controlled by another person using Skype and directly spoke to the students, giving them tips on safety.

Principal Todd Biggert said he was thrilled to see this program at his school, which helps reinforce his number one priority, protecting his students from danger.

News Channel Three’s and CBS Local 2’s Jeremy Chen was at the assembly this morning and has more on this story coming up at 5 p.m.
