More free parking spaces open in Palm Springs

Starting Thursday, hundreds of new free public parking spaces will be available as part of the Palm Springs downtown revitalization project.

This is the underground parking garage that’s been closed for many years.

As part of the agreement with the developer of the project, the city of Palm Springs bought the parking garage and repaired it.

This was all done with Measure J sales tax dollars.

600 of these new free parking spaces will be available in the north underground garage across from the Palm Springs Art Museum. Another 400 spaces are expected to open by January.

News Channel 3 / CBS Local 2’s Jeremy Chen will have an in-depth look at the project tomorrow.
