Twentynine Palms man arrested after allegedly partially amputating woman’s fingers
A Twentynine Palms man was arrested Thursday for allegedly partially amputating a woman’s fingers during a domestic dispute.
Shortly before 6:10 p.m., deputies from Morongo Basin Station responded to the 74000 block of Valle Vista Drive in Twentynine Palms to investigate the report of an unknown disturbance.
Deputies discovered a woman and 34-year-old Davin Saunders had been arguing over relationship issues.

Saunders left the residence and then returned at around 5:45 p.m. The woman and Saunders got into another argument and Saunders grabbed a pair of scissors.
The victim attempted to grab the scissors out of his hand and her right index, middle, and ring finger were partially amputated.
The woman’s friend called 911 and while the victim and Saunders were outside, he attacked her again, punching her four to five times in the face causing a laceration to the bridge of her nose and severe swelling to the left side of her face. Saunders left the location before deputies arrived.
The woman was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs.

Saunders later called 911 from a different location where he was contacted, interviewed and later arrested for violation of mayhem.
Saunders was booked at the Morongo Basin Jail for mayhem and is being held on $100,000 bail.
