Recreational marijuana sales will be legal throughout California Monday, January 1, 2018.
This comes after the passing of Proposition 64 in November 2016, which legalized recreational marijuana use across the state.
This past year, state leaders have worked to set up regulations and licensing for businesses wanting to sell adult-use and/or medicinal marijuana in 2018.
As of around 4:30 p.m. Monday, more than 100 retailers have been issued temporary adult-use licenses by the state to sell recreational marijuana. More than a dozen businesses in the Coachella Valley have received their temporary adult-use retail licenses.
Here’s a list of those businesses from the California Bureau of Cannabis Control (BCC):
Cathedral City Releaf HOTN Cultivation Company Omega Group Inc. P & S Ventures Mother Earth’s Farmacy Cathedral City Care Collective North No Wait Meds West Coast Cannabis Club Atomic Budz

Alex Traverso, a spokesperson for the BCC, said the agency will be issuing licenses throughout the weekend and New Year’s Day.
