Tree fire spreads to vacated building near Palm Springs restaurant

Several roads in Palm Springs have been shut down after a tree fire spread near a Palm Springs restaurant.

The fire was first reported at around 5:15 pm on the 200 block of W Ramon Road. According to firefighters at the scene, threes palm trees caught on fire and spread to a vacated housekeeping building that is a part of the Ingleside Inn.

Both sides of S Belardo Rd at W Ramon Rd are shut down to W Baristo Rd. Westbound traffic was closed from S Palm Canyon to W Ramon Rd for around a little over an hour.

The fire has been knocked down, crews are investigating and will clean up the scene soon. No word on injuries at this time

People coming out of Melvyn’s, a restaurant next door, said the restaurant and bar remain open.
