UPDATE: Suspect in custody in deadly Morongo Reservation shooting

Update 6:20 PM:

The Riverside County Sheriff’s confirmed that they have made an arrest in the shooting.

31-year-old Adrien Joseph Sotomayor was arrested for one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder and has been booked in to the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.

The victim was identified as 55-year-old Gilbert Trevino of Beaumont.

Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies were investigating a deadly shooting that happened just before 11 p.m. Wednesday at the Morongo Indian Reservation.

Deputies located three people at the scene who were suffering from gunshot shot wounds. One of them died from their injuries. The two others were transported to a hospital in serious but stable condition.

The Sheriffs Department did not disclose the exact location of the crime scene.

According to Deputy Mike Vazquez of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, deputies have identified all the parties involved. A fourth person has been detained as a person of interest.

Deputies were treating this as a homicide and are asking people to contact them if they have any information. Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Media Information Bureau said there is no threat to public safety.
