Palm Springs International Film Festival announces top films

The 29th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival is nearing its end, with the announcement of this year’s top films. Saturday, festival organizers announced this year’s juried award winners at a luncheon at the Hilton Palm Springs.

The prize for best foreign language film went to “Felicite from Senegal,” which was directed by Alain Gomis.

The New Voices New Visions award, which is given to the most distinctive new directors, went to director Milad Alami for “The Charmer.”

The John Schlesinger award, which is given to the director of a debut feature documentary, was presented to Viktor Jakovleski for his film “Brimstone & Glory.”

The audience awards for best narrative feature and best documentary feature will be announced later Sunday.
