KESQ/CBS Local 2 General Manager Mike Stutz honored by American Cancer Society
KESQ / CBS Local 2’s General Manager Mike Stutz honored for volunteer work at 3rd annual Desert Golf Invitational.
Each year the event raises money for the American Cancer Society to go towards local patient programs and services as well as cancer research.
“Cancer is something that affects everyone, the statistics are staggering. One in two men and one in three women will be diagnosed with cancer sometime in their life. So really it affects us all at some point so it’s really important we’re out here finding cures and raising money to do just that,” said Kelli Biello, ACS development manager.
The invitational was followed by the Celebration of Life award ceremony, where the ACS honors someone in the community who makes an impact by volunteering and supports the cancer community. The event was emceed by News Channel 3’s John White.
Stutz was chosen as this year’s award recipient honored for his work as a volunteer on the local ACS leadership council.
“This is such a great organization. That’s why I take part in events like this, it’s my way to pay back. I would not be here today without the kind of research the American Cancer Society does to provide the treatment I needed to become a cancer survivor,” Stutz said.
Stutz is a prostate cancer survivor who has stayed cancer free since 2013. He says he is accepting the award on behalf of all cancer survivors.
