Local business hosts charity event to benefit Desert Cancer Foundation

A local business opened its doors to host a charity event benefiting the Desert Cancer Foundation.

It was the official kick off party for the Palm Springs Cruisin’ Association’s annual Dr. George Car Show.
Thousands came together to enjoy food, drinks, live music and hundreds of vintage cars. The president of the Palm Springs Cruisin’ Association, Ross McMullin, tells News Channel 3/CBS Local 2 he expected to raise more than $80,000 at Sunday’s event.

“Last year we donated $82,000, and we’re quite proud of that, to the Desert Cancer Foundation. In fifteen years we’ve raised $770,000 and this year we hope to do even better than last year,” said McMullin.

The Desert Cancer Foundation provides financial assistance in obtaining screening, diagnosis, and treatment for cancer patients Valley wide. The Palm Springs Car Association’s next big fundraiser is scheduled for Feb. 10 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. Food, vendors, live entertainment and a silent auction will be available.
