Man arrested in Yucca Valley after high-speed police chase

Wesley Ezekiel Burrows was taken into custody by Morongo Basin California Highway Patrol (CHP) following a high-chase which topped out at 120 miles per hour on the morning of January 26th.

Officer J. McNutt began following Burrows after observing him traveling 83 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone on State Route 247 southbound in Yucca Valley. Burrows was riding a black Suzuki GSX-R motorcycle. Shortly after McNutt engaged his patrol lights, Burrows merged onto Reche Road and picked up speed, reaching upwards of 120 miles per hour.

Burrows pulled off onto the eastbound shoulder of Reche Road, west of Yucca Mesa Road and lost control of his bike. Officer McNutt conducted a high-risk traffic stop and detained the suspect when other officers arrived on the scene.

Burrows was found in possession of drugs, drug paraphernalia, a loaded Smith & Wesson .357 caliber magnum revolver, and several rounds of ammunition. Officer McNutt conducted a DUI investigation on the suspect, and Burrows was found to be under the influence of drugs.

Burrows faces charges of reckless evading of a peace officer, possession of a loaded firearm and ammunition while on parole, possession of drugs with the intent to sell, and other felony warrants.
