Victims identified in double fatal Thermal crash

The Riverside County Coroner has identified the two men killed in a January 24th Thermal crash as 22-year-old Jesus Felix and 23-year-old Omar Valadez. Both men were residents of Coachella.

The accident occurred at approximately 2:26 a.m. on the morning of the 24th at the intersection of 54th Avenue and Jackson St. just west of Coachella. The California Highway Patrol said that the driver lost control of the vehicle which then went airborne and crashed into five or six palm trees.

The families of the victims have launched a GoFundMe page to finance the funerals of Felix and Valadez.

“On January 24th, we experienced an overwhelming loss. Two families lost their sons. Best friends Jesus and Omar were happy kind souls who will be greatly missed by many,” reads the page. “The boys’ families have decided to honor their sons incredible bond and to split the funeral cost and have them buried next to each other. So they can find themselves together. Just like in life they always found themselves together.”

At the time of this article’s publication, the page had raised $5,860 of its $10,000 goal.
