Loma Linda Indio clinic fills Coachella Valley childcare void

Desperately needed closer care entailed a huge effort for Coachella Valley pediatric patients. For most residents of the region, medical childcare meant a trek of well over 50 miles to Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital. The care there is comprehensive, but the constant mileage can take its toll over time.

In the last five years, Loma Linda’s namesake Children’s Hospital served 18,000 pediatric patients from the Coachella Valley. But come March, a new campus will be coming to the valley to provide much-needed closer-to-home care.

The new center became a reality with the help of a generous $3 million dollar donation from East Valley Ranchers Jill and Barry Golden.

“What we’ve since learned is there is always another family in need. and our hope is to really bridge the East Valley to the West Valley, Jill Golden says. “We are all in this together and that is so imperative. this could be anyone’s daughter, son, niece, nephew visiting, and Loma Linda has really stepped up to the place like no other organization.”

Loma Linda’s new 11,000 square foot campus will sit right in the heart of the valley across from the Public Library in downtown Indio.
