Young entrepreneurs gather in La Quinta

Young entrepreneurs gathered in La Quinta Saturday for the first CV Children’s Business Fair.

Bella Frederick started selling her sweet treats a year ago and she’s only in third grade.

“One of the main things I cook are pies. I cook cherry, chocolate and pumpkin pies,” Frederick said.

She said she’s still learning some techniques.

“I’ve mastered pumpkin pies and cherry pies,” Frederick said.

Eventually she wants to open her own bakery.

Organizers said this is a great way to inspire young entrepreneurs.

“It is really valuable for kids to get into their mindsets now that this is the direction they want to go with their life. Right now it gives them the confidence to go out and do more adventurous things,” said organizer Sarah Hambly.

Many of the booths are selling baked goods, jewelry and potted plants.

“They’re things the kids love doing and they’re able to make a business out of it. What better way to make money than doing what you love,” Hambly said.
