Thousands of bicyclists expected for Tour de Palm Springs
Expect thousands of bikes on the roadways in the Coachella Valley as the annual Tour de Palm Springs bicycle ride is taking place this Saturday. This is the 20th year of the bicycle ride.
Nearly 7,000 bicyclists participated in last year’s event from all over the world.
There are four different routes that are 10, 25, 50 and 100 miles long.
Event organizers are asking drivers this Saturday to watch out the bike riders out on the roadways and to keep at least a 3 foot buffer between them and their vehicle.
All roads in Palm Springs are expected to be open except for Palm Canyon Drive which will be closed starting Friday between Alejo Road and Tahquitz Canyon Way, which is where the rides will begin.
People can still register for the bike ride in person at 106 N. Palm Canyon at the event’s large registration tent. Full details can be found here.
