Desert Hot Springs fire home demolished immediately due to safety violations

According to Desert Hot Springs Police Chief Dale Mondary, the house on the 12000 block of Pomelo Drive in Desert Hot Springs that burned down on Feb. 9 was demolished promptly due to “serious safety violations that were never corrected.” The demolition was ordered by the City’s Code Enforcement team.

The city was also unable to get a hold of the homeowner, which contributed to the decision to demolish. No injuries were reported. Two adjacent structures suffered minor damage.

20 firefighters initially responded to the scene.
