Hiker injured near Palm Springs Aerial Tramway

A woman is recovering from injuries after being rescued near the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway Saturday afternoon.

CAL FIRE/Riverside County firefighters responded to an injured hiker in the San Jacinto Wilderness near the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway around 4:30 p.m.

Long Valley Rangers said the woman, believed to be in her 20s, climbed up a higher peak, fell and hit a small ledge.

Rangers said this was on the Desert View Trail, a quarter-mile southeast of the tram.

The woman, according to rangers, suffered moderate injuries to her leg.

She was taken by first responders to a local hospital for treatment.

Rangers said the woman was hiking with another woman at the time.
