Westfield Palm Desert shopping mall evacuated Saturday afternoon

It was an alarming moment for some shoppers at the Westfield Palm Desert Saturday afternoon.

Just after 2 p.m., the mall was evacuated after emergency alarms began to go off. Video footage shows stores closing and people exiting the building as fire crews entered. According to the mall’s public relations director Francesca Forrer, firefighters were on the scene within moments and gave the all-clear within 15 minutes.

Forrer said officials believe someone pulled the fire alarm, and that officials investigating the situation.
